During the Sultanate period in Gujarat, when the capital was shifted to Ahmedabad, the city of Ahmedabad was established by Ahmed Shah in special architectures in Ahmedabad. Sultan Qutb Shah of Ahmedabad built a lake called 'Hoj-Qutub'. Which later became known as 'Kankaria Lake'. He also created a garden in the middle of the lake which is known as 'Naginawadi'. A Jain sage named Padaliptasuri built a Jain temple on Shatrunjaya Dungar in Palitana. Pavapuri and Palitana are the places with the most temples on the hill in one place in the world.
Twenty-four Tirthankars are seated here. Like Pavapuri and Samet Shikhar, Palitana is also a great pilgrimage site for Jains. Paliya is one of the unique architectures in Gujarat. There are no heroic stories connected with Paliya. Most of the Paliyas of such warriors are built on the battlefield or at the place of their death, these Paliyas are worshiped according to their date in the year. The best examples of Paliya in Gujarat include Bhuchar Mori's Suraj Kunwarbano Paliyo near Jamnagar and Hamirji Gohil Paliya near Somnath temple.
